Working with the Campbells was one of the most organic family photo sessions I’ve had in a long time. Hardly anything was posed. It was simply a morning that unfolded naturally in their house.

I mean seriously. How cute is this little girls hair cut?

I’ve been so lucky to work with this couple over the years. I shot their wedding back in 2003. Since then they’ve had three boys and I’ve photographed them all.

It seems as if the older I get the only way to keep in touch with friends is to do photo shoots with them. Especially the ones who have children. My buddy Glenn is one of my oldest friends. We go way back to the days when seeing who could run to the swing set the fastest was the only thing that mattered. It’s one of those friendships where we can go months or years without seeing each other and pick up right where we left off. There’s never anything awkward about it, we’ve got plenty to talk about and always, always laughs. He’s got this laugh that is loud and full and genuine and contagious. I could hear him laugh from across the room and laugh simply because he is. All of our friends say the same thing about him. And although I didn’t get to spend as much time as I’d like with Glenn, he had to run off to work, I did get to spend a good amount of time with his kids. They’re sweet and trusting and they made me feel like I’ve known them my whole life.

A week prior to this shoot we tried to do a photo shoot at the Audubon Bird Sanctuary at Mill Grove in Audubon. We arrived, did about twenty minutes of pictures and then the rain came. We had to postpone and moved the session to Marsh Creek State Park in Downingtown, PA. I grew up not far from there so it was nice to be back as I hadn’t been there in years. The day was gorgeous with amazing fall colors and warm yellow sunlight making everything pop.

The Audubon Center has turned out to be one of my favorite locations for family portraits. There’s so much to work with.

Nothing like knowing you did a good job and made people happy. It always brings a smile to my face.

So I’ve been hitting the birthday party circuit pretty hard this year. There’s been lot’s of cute babies and amazing food. This is my favorite cake eating shot to date. I love how she just got right in there.
